Our World School Homeschool Co-op

Our World School Homeschool Co-op!

The world is our classroom and our classmates are everyone we meet along the way. We are on a social, educational, personal and creative adventure every day with our home/world schooling. In joining our co-op, we assume that you plan to share your adventures in order to enrich and help make us grow.

The term “homeschool,” doesn’t embrace all that we do, as our classrooms and schooling are everywhere, made up of a wonderful array of people and experiences! It is a priviledge to have the resources and freedom to homeschool, to literally choose to learn at home, and everywhere else we choose to.

One of my many goals for Our World School Homeschool Co-op!, is to change the misconception many have that all homeschooled children lack social engagement with other kids and people in general and are cloistered from the world. Nothing could be farther from the truth, at least for us! Socialization is very important to us, which is why we home/world school. I create and choose, with much love and care, the life experiences, venues, teachers, and subjects that will engage us in the world around us and benefit us in the most positive way possible.

When we decided to “homeschool” as a family, it was not to cloister our daughter away from the world, but to provide her with the freedom to experience it! Given her vibrant, enthusiastic, friendly and caring attitude toward the world and people around her, we felt it was by home/worldschooling that we were recognizing how strong she is and how much she has to offer and gain from this approach. We want her educational choices to encourage and celebrate these strengths: kindness, caring, sensitivity, wisdom, empathy, attention to details and the freedom to express this, freedom to move about and learn hands-on and the knowledge that she has something valuable to contribute to our world. We also want to be a part of it and get to experience her joy in learning first-hand.

We also invite non-member “friends” of Our World School to join us for field trips and outings as we have friends everywhere who do and don’t homeschool or do a little of both. The key is you are a parent who wants to be engaged in your children’s education and welfare and are seeking all the best avenues to ensure this happens, as I am. As a mom and the organizer I am passionate about every aspect of my daughter’s learning and life and believe that the two are one in the same. One emerges from the other constantly, which makes learning such a natural experience. This is also why I choose to name our co-op, Our World School. We learn about our world by being a part of it! I feel that what ignites a love of learning in kids, is when it is joy-filled, creative, hands-on and respects who they are as people.

Everything we do is geared toward giving our families a chance to socialize and also share in amazing learning opportunities as we play, explore, and become friends. If there’s something you’d like to see on our calendar that will enrich our co-op and bring members together, put it on!

Our co-op offers activities for kids of all ages ranging from infant on up. Most of our kids are pre-K and kindergarten age, but we welcome older kids as well. Please make room for us on your calendar, and you’ll see how devoted our organizers and many of our members are. Hopefully, this will inspire you to be as well.

We are a very devoted group who are flexibile and open to each parent contributing from the standpoint of positive, loving, proactive, respectful parenting.
