The Learning Connection (TLC)

I. Statement of Faith

WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word

of God (II Timothy 3:15-17; II Peter 1:21).

WE BELIEVE there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy

Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30).

WE BELIEVE in the deity of Christ (John 10:33); His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew

1:23; Luke 1:34-35); His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15; 7:26); His miracles (John 2:11); His

vicarious and atoning death (I Corinthians 15:3; Ephesians 1:7; Hebrews 2:9); His

resurrection (John 11:25; I Corinthians 15:4); His ascension to the right hand of the Father

(Mark 16:19); His personal return to earth in power and glory (Acts 1:11; Revelation 19:11-

16).

II. Mission Statement

The Learning Connection believes that God has given to parents the primary

responsibility to raise and educate their children. Since He has given His people all

things pertaining to life and godliness, they need not feel inadequate or fear failure in the

area of educating their children. Therefore, TLC seeks to encourage and assist the

parent in this calling through the variety of ways that its individual members enable the

group. We are able to rest in knowing that in all things we are more than conquerors

through Him who loves us and that includes the education of our children. We must

stand firm in knowing that He who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete

it. In acknowledgment of the fact that God is in complete control, we must, therefore, cast

aside any form of pride and in sincere humility live out the convictions we have to home

educate our children. We must never become self-righteous as to condemn those who

have chosen to do otherwise (Philippians 2:1-4).

III. Purpose of TLC

TLC desires to see parents rediscover their God-given role to educate their children —

“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in

your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.”

(Deuteronomy 6:7)

IV. Vision of TLC

Our vision would be that through the practical application of God’s word and prayer we

would heed His instruction in loving, educating, and equipping our children to the fullest

extent of their ability — “That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that

our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style.” (Psalm 144:12)

North Jersey Home Schoolers Association

The North Jersey Home Schoolers Association, Inc (NJHSA) is a Christian organization of local home school support groups (LSGs).  NJHSA exists for the purpose of providing encouragement, support and aid to home schooling families in the northern counties of New Jersey; providing an environment in which Christ-centered education may flourish; promoting home education; and laboring to secure the God-given right and responsibility of parents to direct the education of their children. NJHSA defines home schooling as parents directing the education of their own children from home as a base, using whatever means, methods and resources they deem appropriate, but not including full-time enrollment in a day institution.

Membership in NJHSA is open to families who i) are actively home schooling their children; (ii) have paid NJHSA dues for the current academic year; (iii) are members of a Local Support Group (see descriptions at left); (iv) and attest to certain core beliefs by signing NJHSA’s Statement of Faith. We seek to ensure that our practices, activities and events will not conflict with a Christian world and life view, including the primacy of the family in God’s plan

Deuteronomy 6:6-7  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

NJHSA Statement of Faith

Because of the spiritual unity of believers, by our common faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, individual doctrinal differences should not hinder the unity of Christian home educators.  At the same time, we desire a statement of faith that is specific enough to exclude those who belong to groups generally regarded as cults.  Without apology, NJHSA espouses a creationist approach.  Paragraphs 3 and 4 are included, therefore, not as a test of whether the subscriber is a Christian, but for consistency of approach in all coursework endorsed by NJHSA.
  1. We believe there is but one eternal triune God, the Creator of the universe, who has revealed Himself in three distinct Persons: the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (John 1:1-3, 14; John 14:6-18; Revelation 1:8)
  2. We believe the Bible is the only divinely inspired written revelation of the Creator to man; infallible and completely authoritative in all matters. (II Timothy 3:16; Revelation 22:18-19)
  3. We believe all things in the universe were created and made by God as described in Genesis 1:1-2:3 and that the Biblical record of history in Genesis 1-11 is fully historical and factual. (Exodus 20:8-11; Job 38:1-11; Isaiah 44:24)
  4. We believe all things, which now exist, continue to be sustained by their Creator who has instructed mankind to exercise dominion over all other created organisms, and over the earth itself (an implicit mandate for true science, technology, commerce, fine art, and education.) (Genesis 1:27-31; 2:4-23; Job 38 – 41)
  5. We believe that Jesus Christ is God come in human flesh, born of a virgin, being both fully God and fully man, except without sin. (Matthew 1; Luke 1:26-35; Luke 3:21-38; John 1:1-3, 14)
  6. We believe in the historic fact of Jesus’ death and bodily resurrection. (Matthew 27-28; Mark 15-16; Luke 23-24; John 19-20; 1 Corinthians 15:12-28)
  7. We believe that fallen man is by nature sinful and is inherently in need of salvation. Salvation is the free gift of God given to the sinner by grace and received by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Ezekiel 18: 19-32; Romans 3:22-24; Romans 5:17; Ephesians 2:8-9).
  8. We believe in the necessity and sufficiency of the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ as the only atonement for our sins. (Isaiah 53, Acts 4:10-12; Romans 3:25-26; Hebrews 9: 11-15; Hebrews 10:10, 12; Galatians 2:20)
  9. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict sinners of their need of salvation, and to indwell, guide, instruct, and empower believers for godly living and service. (Matthew 28:19; John 14:16-17, 26; Acts 1:8; Acts 9:31; Ephesians 1:13)
  10. We believe in the personal return of our Lord Jesus Christ–he himself and not another–coming with power and great glory as King to judge both the living and the dead. (Luke 21:27-28; Revelation 20:11-15; Revelation 21:1-5; Revelation 22:12)
  11. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27)
Note: We acknowledge that each translation of the Bible may introduce minor imperfections because we do not have the original text, nor do we have a fully accurate understanding of the ancient languages, nor do the ancient languages fully map word for word into our modern language.  We reject, however, all translations which attempt to diminish the truths stated in this Statement of Faith as well as any translation that imposes a cultural standard, such as the gender-neutral translations

Our Mission and Purpose:

Living Water Home Educators is a non profit NJ corporation. Our mission is to support member homeschool families (with children from K to 12th grade) in the Burlington County and other nearby counties in New Jersey by establishing a community of home educators who can share experiences and assist one another in home education. LWHE is a support group; it is not a school or a substitute for a homeschool.
Leadership Faith Statement:

We are not affiliated with any one particular church. Our group is almost entirely Christian, but we are open to non-Christian home educators and welcome all to our community.    Families are not required to sign a statement of their faith to become members. But, we do ask that they sign and acknowledge the faith statement of the leadership of the group.

The Living Water Home Educators Statement of Faith:
The Holy Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It contains His completed and final revelation to man. We do not endorse or encourage the use of any teaching that conflicts with what is contained in God’s Word. The Bible, in its original form, is without error in its entirety. The Word of God has been and will remain the ultimate authority as we seek His wisdom in representing His group in a way that honors and magnifies the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Little Way Homeschool Cooperative

Mission Statement

Little Way Homeschool is a homeschooling cooperative which seeks to provide support to homeschooling families in the fostering of the formation of the children in the Catholic Tradition by providing various extracurricular activities.

Respect, dignity and faith in God are nurtured in a classroom atmosphere and small groups.  With the aid of this environment, we believe the children will form moral principles and attitudes, friendships, and reinforcement of family values that will strengthen their faith and their contribution to society.

We are a group of mostly Catholic homeschooling families that began in 2003 with seven families.  Currently, we consist of over 50 families from Union, Morris, Somerset, Bergen, Hunterdon and Middlesex Counties of NJ and from PA.  As a Christian Co-op, we ALL share in the work and joy of our Friday meetings.  All families fully participate in the responsibility of the Cooperative’s success.  The small group of Board Members facilitates planning and decision making, but not without the input of Group Liaisons and the membership as a whole.  Everyone is encouraged to offer input and recommendations.

Our group is a member of HSLDA that takes advantage of a significant discounted group rate.  To be in the Co-op, all families are required to have this membership.  If a family chooses not to take advantage of the group rate, one must provide their HSLDA membership number and expiration date.

Members agree to abide by the Statement of Responsibility, Volunteer Agreements, Fee Schedule and the Procedures to assist in the overall function of the group.

LEARN–Liberty Education and Resource Network

Thank you for your interest in the Liberty Education and Resource Network (LEARN). We are a ministry of Faith Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Pole Tavern, NJ. The mission of LEARN is to assist and support parents in the training of their children by providing classes to supplement and enrich their education. LEARN is not to be seen as a replacement for parental instruction, but as a supplement to and an extension of Christian education and nurture in the home.

  • LEARN is a cooperative learning opportunity for children pre-K through 12th grade.
  • LEARN is a cooperative effort in every sense. There will be a pooling of our skills and resources. Everyone must contribute to our success. One parent must be present every hour one of their children is attending classes.
  • This is not a profit making venture, but a ministry by families to families. Prices of classes are determined by the costs of supplies alone. Teachers will be giving of their time.

LEARN runs on a semester basis.  Our 10 week Fall semester begins in early September and runs thru mid-November.  Our Spring semester is also 10 weeks of classes, running mid-February thru early May (we take a 1 week break to celebrate Easter).

During the class semester, LEARN meets on Thursdays from 12:30-4:40PM.  We offer four hours of classes each week.  Families can choose to register for classes for 1, 2, 3, or 4 hours.  Please see Class Registration and the Class Grid for more details.

Homeschoolers Support Network

Homeschoolers Support Network!

We are a group of families who provide mutual support and encouragement to one another as we educate our children at home. While our mission is distinctively Christian, we welcome all people of good will who are comfortable within that context. Our organization is a non-profit, multi-denominational, member-run network committed to the support and promotion of homeschooling families in Mercer County and the surrounding areas.

The Homeschoolers Support Network provides a link to homeschooling resources, information, and events and a place to share ideas and opportunities. We offer a place to connect with other homeschooling families through formal and informal programs, groups, and activities including field trips, classes, and training so that parents can teach their children effectively at home.

We all love our children and enjoy our families enough to make this rather large commitment; that does not mean it is not difficult at times. We all need friendships, new ideas and support along the way! If you are just getting started or if you are considering the idea of homeschooling we hope you will find some information and support here! And even make some new friends!

Cornerstone Home Education Group

Welcome to the Cornerstone Home Education Group Website!! We are a new group of believers desiring to encourage and support the homeschool community. Please bear with us as we work to build our website.

Statement of Faith

We believe the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ’s (Agape) love, which is greater than any differences we possess, and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians. We believe worship of God should be spiritual and inspirational. Therefore, we give great place to music in our worship and remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship. We believe worship of God should be intelligent and fruitful. Therefore we place great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshipped and we look for His love in our lives. We believe in all the fundamental doctrines of orthodox evangelical Christianity.

We believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, that the Bible, Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible Word of God. We believe that God is eternally existent in three separate persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe that God the Father is the personal, transcendent, and sovereign Creator of all things. We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His vicarious death on the Cross, was bodily resurrected by the power of the Holy Spirit, ascended back to the right hand of God the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us. After Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem, enabling them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel to the entire world, an obligation shared by all believers today.

We believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit mentioned in the Scriptures, and that they are valid for today if they are exercised within the Scriptural guidelines. We as believers are to covet the best gifts, seeking to exercise them in love that the whole Body of Christ might be edified. We believe that love is more important than the most spectacular gifts, and without this love all exercise of spiritual gifts is worthless. We believe that church government should be simplistic rather than a complex bureaucracy, and we depend on the Holy Spirit to lead, rather than on fleshly promotion. We believe that the second coming of Christ with His saints to rule on the earth will be personal, pre-millennial, and visible. This motivates us to holy living, heartfelt worship, committed service, diligent study of God’s Word, regular fellowship, sharing in Holy Communion and participation in adult baptism by immersion We believe that through the faithful teaching of the Word of God its message can be applied to an individual’s life, leading that person to greater maturity in Christ.

Calvary Chapel Old Bridge (Home Education Group)

We believe that God has given to parents the primary responsibility to raise and educate their children. Since He has given His people all things pertaining to life and godliness, they need not feel inadequate or fear failure in the area of educating their children. Therefore, HEG seeks to encourage and assist the parent in this calling through the variety of ways that its individual members enable the group. We are able to rest in knowing that in all things we are more than conquerors through Him who loves us and that includes the education of our children. We must stand firm in knowing that He who began a good work in us will be faithful to complete it.

In acknowledgment of the fact that God is in complete control, we must, therefore, cast aside any form of pride and in sincere humility live out the convictions we have to home educate our children. We must never become self-righteous as to condemn those who have chosen to do otherwise (Philippians 2:1-4).

Purpose

CCOB-HEG desires to see parents rediscover their God-given role to educate their children —“You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.” (Deuteronomy 6:7)

Our vision would be that through the practical application of God’s word and prayer we would heed His instruction in loving, educating, and equipping our children to the fullest extent of their ability — “That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; That our daughters may be as pillars, sculptured in palace style.” (Psalm 144:12)

Finally our vision would be that as home education parents we would have integrity and remain blameless before God and man — “Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” (Romans 12:1-2)

Statement of Faith

We designate all members and applicants for membership of the Calvary Chapel Old Bridge Home Education Group (CCOB HEG) for all of the following:

We believe the only true basis of Christian fellowship is Christ’s Agape love, which is greater than any differences we possess and without which we have no right to claim ourselves Christians.

We believe worship of God should be spiritual. Therefore, we remain flexible and yielded to the leading of the Holy Spirit to direct our worship.

We believe worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give great place to music in our worship.

We believe worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshipped.

We believe worship of God should be fruitful. Therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshipping Him.

We believe in all the basic doctrines of historic Christianity.

We believe in the inerrancy of Scripture, that the Bible, Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible Word of God.

We believe that God is eternally existent in three distinct persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that God is the personal, transcendent, and sovereign Creator of all things.

We believe that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully human, that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, provided for the atonement of our sins by His substitutionary death on the cross, was bodily raised from the dead, ascended back to the right hand of the Father, and ever lives to make intercession for us.

We believe in the personal, visible, and pre-millennial second coming of Jesus Christ to the earth. He will return with His saints and set up a kingdom of which there will be no end.

After Jesus ascended to Heaven, He poured out His Holy Spirit on the believers in Jerusalem, enabling them to fulfill His command to preach the Gospel to the entire world, an obligation shared by all believers today.

We believe that all people are, by nature, separated from God and responsible for their own sin, but that salvation, redemption, and forgiveness are freely offered to all by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. When a person repents of sin and accepts Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord, trusting Him to save, that person is immediately born again and sealed by the Holy Spirit, all his/her sins are forgiven, and that person becomes a child of God, destined to spend eternity with the Lord.

BRIGHT CO-OP

BRIGHT (Believers Rallied In Groups Homeschooling Together) is an organization bringing homeschooling families together. On a weekly basis, we provide an opportunity to enrich our children’s academic curriculum and social experience within the context of a Christian-based cooperative organization. We believe that every parent has strengths that he/she can use to help educate our children, and that we can work together to have an efficiently run co-op. We come together not only to teach each other’s children, but also for them to learn and grow with other children. We lift each other up before the Lord in prayer whenever the need arises, working and fellowshipping as a family, supporting one another in all areas of our lives.

Perhaps you have some questions:

What is BRIGHT? We’re a homeschool cooperative located in New Jersey’s Somerset County, organized to provide home education families an opportunity to enrich or supplement their children’s academic curriculum and social experience within the context of a Christian-based group. We are registered with HSLDA for homeschool group discount membership. When and where do you meet? We meet each Wednesday at 9:45 at the Zarephath Children’s Ministry Center on Weston Canal Road off Route 287, Exit 12 We meet once a week for classes, but we also extend web membership to inactive alumni to continue fellowship with BRIGHT. What classes are offered? BRIGHT’s classes are parent-initiated and parent-led (that means led by YOU and ME!). The classes offered for the 2013-2014 school year are listed in a separate link. That listing might still change as new members join us and offer classes. So, come back for updates. Opportunities for service: BRIGHT’s parents serve at the co-op in some capacity for each hour that their family attends. The positions and their point values can be found on a separate link called Serving at BRIGHT.

What does it cost? The initial once-a-year registration fee is $50. After that, each family is required to pay $30 per month in three month increments. An insurance fee (yet to be determined) will be required by August 1st or if you register later, with your registration.

How can I find out more and contact someone? First, read BRIGHT’s information on the sidebar (Bylaws, Code of Conduct, etc) to consider if we are a good match for you and your family. Then simply begin filling out the online Requesting Membership form. The Board will consider your application and contact you with the approval or denial. Beginning the registration process in no way obligates you; it is just the best way for us to initially hear from you. If you would you’d like to contact us directly, you may e-mail us at BRIGHT.co_op@yahoo.com. If I do not know anyone in BRIGHT, how can I join? BRIGHT usually operates on a “sponsorship” basis – that is, we would already know you within the local homeschool community. If you are new to the area or to homeschooling, BRIGHT will need personal references from your last church and your last homeschool group (if applicable) in order for us to consider your membership.

“If we say have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” 1 John 1:6-7.

BRIGHT (Believers Rooted in God Homeschooling Together)

Welcome to BRIGHT Co-Op!

We are Believer’s Rooted IGod Homeschooling Together.

Our goal is to be bright; radiant for Christ, full of his wisdom and knowledge as we work together to educate our children.

If you are within traveling distance of Netcong, NJ and are looking for a weekly, academic co-op, please peruse our site to learn more about us.

BRIGHT Co-Op meets on Fridays at Grace Church in Netcong.  We begin the first Friday after Labor Day week and run until the last Friday in May.  Classes may begin as early as 8am but most don’t begin until 9am.  Depending on what is being offered each year, our days run until 3pm or 4pm.  Younger grades have shorter days.

WHAT’S REQUIRED TO BE INVOLVED?

*  Full school-year commitment, from September through May.

*  Members must be willing to teach a non-compensated class and serve in helping positions such as a teacher’s aide, lunch or recess monitor, set-up or clean-up coordinator. After prayerful consideration, we try to distribute the workload equally & place people in their areas of interest.

*  At least one parent must be in agreement with the Statement of Faith. This co-op operates with a Christian worldview. All teachers must agree to teach from a Creation-science viewpoint (six literal days of creation) and in accordance with Biblical values.

Other than your assigned teaching and / or work times, you are not required to stay at the co-op as long as you have no children under the age of 12 who are not in classes the entire day.  Children under the age of 12 need to be supervised by a parent during any gaps in their schedules on Fridays.

You are not required to sign your children up for every class in their grade which is a nice option for parents.  At the same time, however, we are not a childcare service and if your child (under 12 years) is not in class, you are responsible to supervise them.
