Conduct Agreement

~We as parents understand that our family is a representative of White County Home Educators (WCHE) and of the home schooling community. We agree to conduct ourselves in a responsible manner when participating in all group activities. This includes, but is not limited to: dressing modestly and appropriate to the activity, following instructions, careful treatment of property and polite behavior towards others.

~ All members are expected to respect the authority of the steering committee and/or it’s designated representatives.

~ Parental supervision is required at all functions. You may designate an adult other than yourself if the need arises. If they are not WCHE members they must be familiar with WCHE guidelines and adhere to it’s standards.

~ All children will be expected to respect all adults and respond politely.

~ Students of the opposite sex are expected to refrain from any inappropriate actions or public displays of affection and to treat each other with the respect due a brother or sister in Christ. We understand that failure to comply will result in our being asked to refrain from future participation.

Discipline

Parents are primarily responsible to maintain discipline of their own children. If they fail to do so, the adult

responsible for the activity may ask the child to behave more appropriately. If after being warned the

behavior continues, they will be removed from the activity.

Adults are expected to set examples of appropriate, Christ-like behavior. If a problem arises it may be

addressed by the steering committee and would be handled according to Matthew 18:15-17.

The Harbor

The group is founded on the cornerstone of Christ. The lighthouse is the focal point of a harbor that guides the ships and lights the way. We believe that Christ does the same for us in our home education journey. The Harbor exists to glorify God in the goals that it accomplishes and the needs that it meets.Proverbs 3:5-6, Proverbs 16:3, Isaiah 58:11, Hebrews 12:1-2

Relationship Building

One of the primary purposes of the weekly meetings and various activities is to build strong like-minded peer relationships. We can be excited about being called to home education, and we need to help our children realize that they are not alone or unusual in the way they are educated. Strong relationships can help our children weather storms that they might encounter when not in the Harbor. Building relationships among the parents is equally important.

Proverbs 17:17, Proverbs 18:24, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, 2 Timothy 2:22

Knowledge Seeking

Our desire as home educating families is to see that our children grow in knowledge and wisdom just as Christ did as a youth. We do this by studying various topics at our weekly meetings as well as by providing additional activities and field trips.

Proverbs 2:6-11, Luke 2:52

Family Nurturing

It is very important that the Harbor nurtures the entire family by encouraging, praying for, and helping others. For example, there are times when we can spiritually lift others up, there are times when we can lend a listening ear, and there are times when we can physically help out with things such as childcare and other needs.

Galatians 6:2-3, Hebrews 10:24

Meeting Information

Meetings are held at Faith Church in Martinsville at the corner of 37 and 44. They are generally held on Fridays at 1:00 p.m. The ending time is around 3:30 p.m. The fourth Friday of each month is usually scheduled off. The months with holidays, months with five Fridays, and special activities will occasionally alter this schedule. Educational units/classes, activities, and field trips are planned by the participating families. Planning meetings are scheduled in the evening or on a Saturday morning as necessary. (Generally two to three times a year.) It is required that families who attend the Harbor will help in planning, teaching, or in other needed areas so that the load is shared by all. Mom’s Night Out events and Family Gatherings are scheduled throughout the year. Information about these is posted at the weekly meetings and via email

RHETORIC

RHETORIC stands for Raising Homeschoolers Educated Through Oratory toReach Individuals for Christ. RHETORIC is an Indiana nonprofit focusing on recreational speech and debate for Christian home educating families.

RHETORIC’s motto is “Excelsior,” Latin for “ever higher.” Using Philippians 3:14 as the basis, students are encouraged to strive to better their personal abilities while giving all glory to God. The rhetoric training is based on Christ, the Word (or “Logos” in Greek), to be used for His purposes.

OverviewWeekly club meetings are held throughout the school year on Mondayevenings in Mooresville, Indiana. First semester meetings consist of an academic (but enjoyable) Varsity parent/student speech workshop, with separate speech classes for younger students. Homework will be assigned. Second semester meetings involve preparation for competition. Debate training is offered for students who have completed at least one year of Varsity speech. MembershipRHETORIC is affiliated with Christian Communicators of America (CCA). Members must agree to and comply with all sections of the RHETORIC Handbook (linked here or on the sidebar). The Handbook includes the following CCA foundational documents (Statement of Faith, Mission and Vision, Code of Conduct and Speech and Debate Program) found at www.ccadebate.org.

RHETORIC also follows the CCA requirement that participating families must have at least one Varsity level student aged 13-18. The student must turn 13 by January 1st of tournament season. Younger siblings ages 5-12 may participate in club meetings and competitions in their age divisions. CommitmentIn addition to weekly club meetings, students must compete at the two-day Indianapolis Invitational Tournament each March, as well as a round robin in January (if offered). Students may compete at up to three other spring tournaments throughout the Midwest, if desired — the club strongly encourages choosing at least one of these. At least one parent from each family is required to be involved in the weekly meetings, and both parents must assist with the Indianapolis tournament. RegistrationVisiting the Indianapolis Invitational Tournament in March is the best way to understand RHETORIC and CCA. Families interested in attending the Tournament or participating in our club should send inquiries to the address listed below.

LOGIC Speech & Debate

The Leaders in Oratory Group of Indiana for Christ (LOGIC) was formed to fill a need in the central Indiana area for speech and debate coaching and instruction for Christian homeschooling families. In 2007-2008, LOGIC operated independently as a cooperative of the member families. In 2008-2009, LOGIC became fully affiliated with Christian Communicators of America which has been expanding rapidly since 2004. The LOGIC coaches and staff are not professionals but only home schooling parents who have volunteered for this endeavor. Additional volunteers are needed in order to help the club function efficiently. LOGIC firmly believes in the intrinsic value of speech, debate and argumentation skills for the purpose of defending the Gospel of Jesus Christ and enriching the lives of our students. We uphold home based schooling as an ideal arrangement for parents to ensure the highest quality of instruction and to maintain control over the content of their children’s’ education, and we see ourselves as an extension of the home school.

Prospective Families:

LOGIC Speech and Debate Club will be having a meeting for all prospective families on Tuesday, August 13th, at 6:30 PM at St. Agnes Church, 1008 McLary Rd., Nashville, IN 47448.

This meeting is mandatory for all parents of students who are interested in participating during the 2013-2014 season. Students do not need to attend this meeting. LOGIC is a conservative Christian high school speech and debate club affiliated with Christian Communicators of America.

The main purposes of the LHC are to provide excellent educational opportunities and encouragement for homeschooling families in the Logansport area.  There are many exciting educational opportunities that we can provide for our children when we work in conjunction with one another under the authority of Scripture. We can hold each other accountable as we train our children to love God and to love truth. Lighthouse Home Educators

Mission Statement

Realizing that we are not only educating our children, but also raising a generation to affect generations to come, we have joined together to complement each other in providing educational and enrichment opportunities for our children. We are committed to applying discipleship principles not only for our children, but for each other as well, in order to nurture life skills and to raise each individual to be better equipped to fulfill the purpose God has designed for them.

Purpose

To function as a co-operative homeschool support group based in the Avon/Brownsburg/West Indianapolis area.

To match each parent to the areas of service God has uniquely gifted him/her, in order for the various parts of God’s family to work together for His glory.

To provide opportunities for all members of the family to develop and to strengthen relationships with other families in our homeschooling community.

Our group is closed for the 2013-2014 school year. If you are interested in being put on the wait list for the 2014-2015 school year, please email info@lighthousehe.org.

Lighthouse Home Educators believe:

* That the world was created by God. (Gen 1:1)

* That the Bible is the Spirit inspired, inerrant, and wholly authoritative word of God. (2Tim. 3:16)

* There is one God who is eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (1John 5:4-7)

* That all have sinned and fallen short of God’s best for us. (Rom. 3:23-24)

* That Christ died in our place to save us from our sins, was buried, and then rose again on the third day. (1Cor. 15:4)

* That salvation is offered as a free gift to the sinner. One must accept this gift by repentance for sin and faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, not trusting in any personal works. (Rom. 6:23; Titus 3:5)

* That God has given parents the responsibility and authority to educate their children in a godly manner. In so doing, parents equip future generations to live in a manner that is pure, right, and worthy of the Lord. (Prov. 22:6; Prov. 20:11; 2Tim. 1:5; Col. 1:10-12)

Homeschool Helpers

Welcome To Our Website!

Since 2009, Homeschool Helpers has been supporting homeschooling families by offering; bi-monthly classes, field trips, an annual cotillion, a talent show, Holiday parties, and most importantly support and encouragement! We like to have fun, and enjoy our time together

HH was founded on Christian principals and is run by a member-voted Christian board of directors that believes every decision made must be preceded with prayer.

Parents play a vital role in running HH by participating as teachers, helpers, party and field trip coordinators, and particiapting in decision-making along with voting on the new board members after the terms are completed.

HH holds class days in Windfall, IN the first two Mondays of each month during the school year with a full day of optional classes in which your children may participate. During these class days we gather for lunch at Noon, followed by a Community Speaker (firemen, police officers, etc.) We also hold Holiday Parties for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day and Easter.

None of our activities are required, so you choose what works best for your family. Our desire is to offer families additional options than what they may have at home.

Be sure to visit us on Facebook athttp://www.facebook.com/doubleHgroup

We would love to have you join us! Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have at doubleHgroup@aol.com

STATEMENT OF FAITH
1. We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired and only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of  God. (II Tim. 3:16; II Peter 1:21)

2. We believe in the one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.(Gen. 1:1,2; Isa. 9:6 Matt. 1:23;John 10:37-38;John 16:13-15; 1 Cor. 2:10,11; Col. 2:9; Heb.1:8,10)

3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in Hissinlesslife, in His miracles, in His atoning death through Hisshed blood on the crossin our place, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in Hisfuture personal return in power and glory. (Isa. 7:14; Matt. 1:23; Luke 1:35, Heb. 7:25;John 2:11; Heb. 9:12; Col. 1:14; Col 2:9;John 11:25; Acts 1:11; Rev. 19:11-16)

4. We believe that human beings are sinful by nature; that although created in the image of God, human sin against God marred the image, and fellowship with God was broken. (Rom. 3:19,23; Isa. 53:6; Rom.5:12,18; 1 John 1:8)

5. We believe that God has demonstrated Hislove for lost and sinful humanity, in that while we were yet sinners,Christ died for us. We believe that the Holy Spirit convinces us of sin and leads usto experience God’ssalvation through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, who alone reconciles usto God.(John 3:16-19; Rom. 5:8; Rom. 6:23; Eph. 2:8,9; Titus 3:5-7; 1 John 5:11)

6. We believe in the ongoing ministry of the Holy Spirit, Whose indwelling empowers usto live godly lives, and to express our personal faith through good works.(1 Cor. 3:16; 1 Cor. 6:19-20; Gal. 5:22,23; Titus 3:14; Eph. 1:13,14; Eph. 2:20;James 1:22-25;James 2:26)

7. We believe in life after death of both the saved and the lost: the saved to eternal life in God’s presence, and the lost to eternal damnation. (Dan. 12:2; Matt. 13:40-42; Matt. 25:46;John 3:16, 36;John 5:28, 29; John 17:3; Acts 24:15)

8. We believe in the unity of believersin our Lord Jesus Christ, bound together by the Holy Spirit, and sent out in gifted diversity to accomplish Christ’s mission in the world. (1 Cor. 12:11-14; Gal. 3:26-28; Eph. 2:19-22; Eph. 1:2-6)

9. We believe in the creation of man by the direct act of God, which reveals His unparalleled power, and His unfathomable love toward every person even before each is born.(Gen. 1:26-28; Gen. 5:1-2; Psa. 139:13-18; Eph. 1:3-6)

10. We believe in the family, the basic unit created by God, which consists of one male and one female, legally married, and their children, including adopted, foster, and step-children. We recognize the exception of single parents. We do not recognize one-gender marriages, believing in homosexuality is contrary to Scripture and the intentions of God in creation.(Gen. 1:27,28; Gen. 2:24; Eph. 5:22-33; Col 3:18-21; Lev. 18:22; Rom. 1:18-27; I Cor. 6:9,10)

11. We believe in God-ordained authority, where the parents have primary authority over and accountability for their children, and therefore are responsible to direct their educational development. We also believe we are subject to the state when it is acting under its godly jurisdiction.(Deut. 6:4-9; Psa. 127:3-5; Prov. 22:6; Rom 13:1-4; Eph. 6:1-4)

Heart n Home

Once again, Heart n Home is sponsoring an Events and Opportunities Fair featuring representatives from area organizations. Come learn about the many clubs, museum programs, and field trip options, among others, available to homeschoolers for the 2013-14 school year.

We will have new member information for those joining Heart’n’Home for the first time or for those renewing with Heart’n’Home and wanting to see the unique opportunities available to you this year. Also, our state representatives from the Indiana Association of Home Educators will be joining us. They will be sharing with us how we can support them in their crucial role in keeping Indiana a very homeschool friendly state. They fight for us at the state level each year without many of us even knowing about it. We are excited to get behind them in the ongoing fight.

The decision to homeschool your children can be overwhelming! But we are here to tell you that the rewards are worth the effort. Heart’n’Home School Support Group of Southern Indiana (HnH) exists to help provide the information and the fellowship we all need to have the best home schooling experience. We’re glad you’re here!

What is Heart‘n’Home?

Heart‘n’Home is a Christian homeschool support group for the parents of homeschooled children. HnH provides opportunities for fellowship, field trips, mentoring, information exchange, and much more. All these activities are organized by our members and are a result of members volunteering their time, talents and energies to create opportunities for themselves and the rest of the group.

When do Heart‘n’Home members get together?

Much of the communication between HnH members occurs online via the forum on our web page. This forum has a wealth of information and is a great place to ask questions of more experienced homeschoolers. Members can choose how they receive these e-mails.

HnH meetings are held monthly on the third Thursday of the month in August, September, October, November, January, February and April. (In December we have a special time for the moms, but it is not a regular meeting.) Topics for meetings are varied and will be posted on our calendar in advance. There will be time for fellowship after meetings. New families looking for a support group are welcome to visit one of our meetings. Membership is required to participate in further meetings.

How do I become a member of Heart‘n’Home?

Membership requirements involve being in agreement with our Statement of Faith, Statement of Purpose and being willing to serve the group in some capacity. Registration is available online and there is a yearly membership fee of $15. Registration for 2012-20123 membership opens May 1, 2012. Would you like more information about HnH? GRACE Home Educators is a small group of families who meet for support and fellowship.

During the school year, we meet twice a month on the second and fourth Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon and offer various classes for children K-12. (There is also a preschool class for younger siblings and a nursery available.) These classes are intended to supplement home instruction. In general, we try to offer activities that families might not do at home or those that require a group to be successful.

We also plan a monthly fun field trip which is open to other homeschooling families. In addition, we have a monthly Mother’s Meeting year round. This meeting is intended for fellowship. Some group business will be discussed but it is mainly a time for food and fun!

Membership in GRACE requires submission of the membership form, signature on the Statement of Beliefs and payment of the yearly membership fee. For more specific information and membership forms, please see the Membership Information link.

CHEER Christian Home Educators of the Evansville Region

It is with deepest regret that the coordinators for CHEER announce that CHEER will dissolve as a homeschool group effective immediately. We simply do not have the funds available to file for 501c3 tax exempt status through the IRS and do not believe we can reasonably continue legitimately as a non-profit group without obtaining tax exempt status. Diligently praying and taking our concerns before the Lord, we feel that the most Christ-honoring decision is to close our doors. Although CHEER has been in existence for 15+ years and has long been a strong Christian presence in our local homeschooling community, we feel that we cannot, in good faith, operate outside the regulations established by the IRS.

Please join us in praying for our homeschool community as we all look to other options for our extracurricular activities and classes. We believe that God will honor our intent for integrity in how homeschool co-ops operate and bless our homeschool families with additional opportunities that will aid them in their chosen path to educate their children.
