Parents are responsible for choosing their own materials. We are happy to offer advice based on our experiences.

O.A.S.I.S. Homeschool Group

We are a group of families who have, like you, chosen to educate our children at home. We have started our journeys for many different reasons, use many different curriculums, have different aged children, and are from many different congregations from all over the metropolitan area and beyond. Some of us work full time, part time or are stay at home parents. Some of us are un-schoolers, traditionalist, or eclectic teachers. We come from different backgrounds, have different talents and interest, and have different family situations. We have a lot of things that make each of us different, but one thing has brought us all together. We all want to give our children the very best educational experience we can provide.

This group was created in order to have fun with other homeschooled families while offering education based activities and opportunities for good association.

We strive to offer as many activities as possible to our members each year including a science fair, an art expo, a school play.

So from all the OASIS families that are returning for another fun filled year to all our new families who are sure to become our new friends, welcome to OASIS. We hope to make this year a wonderful experience for you and your family as we build beautiful memories, lasting friendships, and strong minds together.

Columbia Homeschool Community

Columbia Homeschool Community is Central Maryland’s oldest, inclusive homeschool support group.  We are registered as a not-for profit, non-stock Maryland corporation.

CHC warmly welcomes homeschool families throughout Maryland, without regard to race, religion, political philosophy, or educational approach. CHC is currently comprised of about 200 families and approximately 480 children.

There are no age requirements for CHC and you don’t have to be registered as a homeschooler with your local board of education yet to join. So, whether you are a novice looking for support and activities; a veteran homeschooler with years of experience and teens; or somebody who is homeschool-curious and hoping to learn about homeschooling in Maryland before they take the plunge–you’ll find a comfortable, supportive, active, and friendly home at CHC.
OUR MISSION

Manfred Smith, the founder of the Maryland Home Educators’ Association, described CHC as Maryland’s most active, organized, and successful homeschool support group.

How do we do it?  We share a deep commitment to our mission of providing homeschool enrichment, socialization development, support, and information.

Enrichment

CHC and its members offer valuable opportunities for homeschool enrichment through activities, field trips, special interest classes, and programs including the Science Fair, Art Show, Field Day, Art Education Tours, Holiday Gala, and Music Appreciation Series.

Through our popular CHAP (Columbia Homeschool AP) Co-op, our high schoolers complete AP-syllabus approved coursework, led by qualified instructors, many experts in their field!

Socialization Development

At CHC, we help our students develop interpersonal and socialization skills through regular interaction with their peers.  With this in mind, CHC and its members regularly sponsor exciting activities and programs providing opportunities to develop and practice social skills for homeschooled children and their parents.  CHC members never worry about “THE SOCIALIZATION ISSUE” – we are too busy socializing at our playgroups and the many and varied CHC events offered each year, especially our monthly family events.

Support

Our members are dedicated to enhancing and supporting your homeschool journey. Through our many public Meet n Greets, Visiting Days, and seminars, you can learn all about the ins and outs of homeschooling in Maryland.  Come learn about homeschooling resources, rules and regulations, activities, styles, programs, events, and opportunities. If you like what you see, join us and participate in our many programs, field trips, co-op classes, community service projects, and more!

Statement of Purpose
To the Glory of God, as a local Christian home school support group, we purpose to serve the needs of Christian home schooling families and to preserve the fundamental right to home school.

CHSF Statement of Faith

1.       We affirm the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God, which constitutes complete and final revelation for faith and practice. (Romans 16:26, 2 Tim. 3:15-17, 2 Peter 1:21)

2.      We affirm there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

(Gen. 1:1, Matt. 28:19, Luke 1:35, Luke 3:22, Acts 2:38-39, 1 Cor. 8:6, 1 John 5:7)

3.      We affirm the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, (John 1:1-18, John 10:30, John 14:9, Romans 9:5, Rev. 22:13,20)  His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19, 1 Cor. 15:4) and His personal return in power and glory.  (Mark 13:26-27, Acts 1:9-11, 1 Thess. 4:16)

4.      We affirm that man, by transgression, fell from his original created state of innocence into a state of condemnation, separating himself from his Creator. He remains in this state of alienation unless he is delivered by the power of the Gospel (John 3:16,36; Romans 5:12; 1 Cor. 15:22; Eph. 4:18).

5.      We affirm that salvation is offered freely to all who repent of their sin and place their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Mark 1:15, John 11:25-26, Romans 10:9-10)

6.      We affirm the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation and that only by God’s grace men are justified solely through faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ. (Eph. 2:8-9, Titus 3:5)

7.      We affirm that the saved of all ages will be resurrected unto everlasting life and the lost unto everlasting damnation. (Matthew 25:31-46, John 5:28-29)

8.      We affirm in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 8:9, 1 Cor. 12:12-13, Gal. 3:26-28).

9.      We affirm the present indwelling ministry of the Holy Spirit, enabling each believer to live a godly life. (Romans 8:13-14; 1 Cor. 3:16, 1 Cor. 6:19-20, Eph. 4:30, Eph. 5:18)

10.  We affirm that civil government is ordained by God to uphold peace and righteousness, and execute judgment on evil. Believers are commanded in Scripture to be subject to civil authority, except where man’s law violates God’s law. (Romans 13:1-7, Acts 5:29)
