Holy Family Catholic Homeschool Group

We are located in the Toms River NJ area. Our group of Catholic children meet once a month to work on projects, exchange ideas, help with local community needs and plan social events and field trips.

Your group dues each month are a package or can of food for the local food pantry of St. Vincent de Paul in Bayville, NJ. It is our way of blessing others while we bless each other by our presence here. It’s a small expression of our Catholic Faith to share with those who are in need.

This group has no fees except when there are field trip costs

North Jersey Home Schoolers Association

The North Jersey Home Schoolers Association, Inc (NJHSA) is a Christian organization of local home school support groups (LSGs).  NJHSA exists for the purpose of providing encouragement, support and aid to home schooling families in the northern counties of New Jersey; providing an environment in which Christ-centered education may flourish; promoting home education; and laboring to secure the God-given right and responsibility of parents to direct the education of their children. NJHSA defines home schooling as parents directing the education of their own children from home as a base, using whatever means, methods and resources they deem appropriate, but not including full-time enrollment in a day institution.

Membership in NJHSA is open to families who i) are actively home schooling their children; (ii) have paid NJHSA dues for the current academic year; (iii) are members of a Local Support Group (see descriptions at left); (iv) and attest to certain core beliefs by signing NJHSA’s Statement of Faith. We seek to ensure that our practices, activities and events will not conflict with a Christian world and life view, including the primacy of the family in God’s plan

Deuteronomy 6:6-7  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

RSM-MetroWest

RSM-MetroWest uses the well established RSM curriculum, which aims to combine the best international and US practices. We introduce algebra as early as in kindergarten, and by second grade our students are already solving simple algebraic equations and understand the notion of functions. The benefits of early introduction of algebra, with its roots in theories of a well-known Russian educator Lev Vygotsky, are becoming increasingly recognized in educational research in the United States. See an excellent selection of information about Vygotsky, and a list of recent publications on Early Algebra.

The RSM curriculum that we use here at MetroWest puts some of these ideas into practice, and we proudly observe how our students, who attend our program just two hours a week, are capable of absorbing complex notions with ease at an early age.

Our emphasis in elementary school is primarily on the cognitive development of the child, which we foster with a combination of carefully selected assignments and teacher-student interactions, providing the scaffolding for developing the necessary cognitive skills, intellectual curiosity, and mastery of key concepts.

By middle school we add a heavy emphasis on proficiency with mathematical concepts and tools, while continuing to incorporate logical problems and puzzles into the mainstream program.

By the end of 7th to 8th grade, when most of our classes complete Algebra 1 and some Algebra 2, we encourage our students to try early SAT tests as part of the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth admissions process.

Our older students continue to pre-calculus, calculus, AP preparation and SAT II preparation classes. We also offer SAT preparation classes for high school students who have not been previously exposed to our program. Visit our Programs page for more detail.

HG Kids

Hickory Grove has five objectives.

A way of responding properly to God — personally and corporately — for who He is and what He has done.  Worship is the submission to all of our nature to God.
• We are commanded to worship (Matthew 4:10).
• God is seeking people to worship Him (John 4:23-24).
• Worship is the chief end of man (Isaiah 43:7).

A way of obediently participating in the life and ministry of the church.
• The believer is called to be active in the ministry of the church (Acts 2:42-43).
• Believers are called to have fellowship with one another (Acts 2:44-47).
• The believer is called to make disciples and be discipled (Matt. 28:16-20).
• Believers are called to encourage and lift one another up (Hebrews 3:12-14).

A way to demonstrate spiritual gifts, motivated by joy in the Lord, to further the church’s ministry for the sake of Christ’s kingdom.
• Christ is our model of true Humility and Service (Phil. 2:5-11).
• Service honors God. (Hebrews 6:10).
• The church is built up and functions as a unit because of spiritual gifts (Rom. 12, 1 Cor. 12)

A way to communicate with God through which the believer expresses his or her trust in and complete dependence on Him.
• It is modeled by Christ (Matthew 6:1-15).
• It is essential for Christian perseverance (Luke 18:1-8).
• Pray without ceasing (1 Thessoloanians 5:17).

A way to invest your resources strategically to further the mission of the church and the glory of God.
• It is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:35).
• God has blessed you with resources (Deuteronomy 16:17).
• God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:6-8).

Co-op Homeschool Support Group

The Co-op Homeschool Support Group was established in 2000 for families in the Gardner Area or anyone willing to travel to the area to join us. We are a small group of 12 families who get together regularly to provide opportunities for our children to form close relationships with one another. The children in the group range in age from 2-14 years, with the highest concentration of ages being in the 5-10 year range. We are not affiliated with any religious organizations, and we try to keep the discussion of religious topics out of our meetings to avoid divisions among our members. Parents meet in the evening on the first Monday of every month in Leominster to plan events for the children. There is no cost associated with membership to the group, however parents are responsible for their family members’ admission fees when on field trips.

Progress Homeschool Support Group

– A supportive and informational network for the parents
– Cooperative educational opportunities for homeschool children
– Planned activities designed to stimulate social interaction and friendships

We intend to accomplish this through monthly meetings, newsletters, field trips, enrichment activities and planned social functions.

The members of this support group are committed to giving their children an excellent education from a Christian world view. Based on our individual and corporate commitment to Jesus Christ, we are determined that this group and all of its activities will be consistently Christian to the honor and glory of Jesus Christ.

We recognize that as individual families we represent Christ in the community and thus have a responsibility to maintain a lifestyle that brings glory to God. We strongly urge our members to establish a positive relationship with their local school system, whenever it is possible.

We are aware that along with the freedom of homeschooling comes a great responsibility to uphold the reputation of Christianity and the homeschool movement. Our deportment as a group on field trips or other cooperative activities should reflect this concern. On field trips parents are responsible to supervise and guide their own children through the entire learning experience. This allows each family to emphasize aspects that are specific to its particular curriculum.

WE BELIEVE:

– The Bible is the Word of God, fully inspired and without error in its original manuscripts, written under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and that it has supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.
– God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God The Father, God The Son and God The Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ was God come in human flesh being fully God and fully man except without sin.
– All men are in violation of God’s righteous requirements and His holy character both by nature and act, and are therefore under His wrath and just condemnation. The central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death on the cross ~ the successful accomplishment of which was attested to by His subsequent visible, bodily resurrection.
– Salvation is offered as a gift, free to the sinner. This gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.

PARTICIPATION GUIDELINES:

Participation in Pilgrims’ Progress Support group will be kept open to homeschooling families who are willing to work in accordance with the groups’ written guidelines and doctrinal statement (no signed statement of faith required). Leadership positions such as chairman, secretary, treasurer, events coordinator, etc… require more rigorous qualifications such as: signing the statement of faith, homeschooling for at least two years and the recommendation and support of the existing board.

Only dues-paying families will be included on the mailing/phone list and will receive informational mailings, newsletters, minutes, etc. Families who do not choose to commit in this manner are welcome to participate in field trips as space allows, with preference given to dues-paying families.

Western Mass Homeschoolers

OUR MISSION

Western Mass Homeschoolers (WMH) is an organization that exists primarily to encourage and support homeschool families.  Our objectives fall within four broad categories:

  • Provide a forum for families to meet and share ideas and talents with/for each other.
  • To share the Word of God as the highest form of instruction and encouragement.
  • To establish a network to effectively communicate timely legislative issues or other pertinent homeschool information.
  • To provide workshops and a clearinghouse of information and resources to assist homeschoolers in educating their children.

To meet most of these objectives: we host support group meetings, a weekly e-newsletter, known as News and Notes, a bi-annual Used Book Sale. Various volunteers organize field trips and yearly events such as a history fair, science fair, fine arts night, drama class presentations, a Gavel Club (junior Toastmasters), and more.  Our website provides a plethora of information and resources valuable to homeschoolers subscribers. WMH is privileged to serve over 200 families located throughout the Pioneer Valley and extending into Connecticut.  We are unashamedly a Christian group, but we are not exclusive in our membership.  Our overriding goal is to serve God by serving homeschool families.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

Western Mass Homeschoolers subscribes to Biblical Christianity.  We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of both the Old and New Testaments in their entirety, is the inspired, inerrant, complete, Word of God, the whole of which was given to all Christian believers.  We believe the one God is Triune, consisting of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.  God created the universe out of nothing, and He is eternal, changeless, holy, loving and perfect. God, the Father, the first person of the Trinity, is a spiritual being without a physical body Who is personal and involved with people.

Jesus is God, the second person of the Trinity, and is the Son of the Father.  He has always existed and was not created.  He is fully God and fully man, the two natures joined.  He is co-equal with God the Father and the Holy Spirit.  In becoming man, He was begotten through the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin, Mary.  Jesus is the only way to the Father, salvation, and eternal life.  He rose from the dead on the third day, spiritually and physically immortal.  He physically ascended into heaven and will come again visibly and physically at the end of the world to establish God’s kingdom and judge the world.  Jesus is the Jewish Messiah promised to Israel in the Old Testament.

The Holy Spirit is God, the third person of the Trinity.  He comforts, grieves, reproves, convicts, guides, teaches, indwells, and fills Christians. Salvation is by God’s grace, not an individual’s good works.  Salvation must be received by faith.  People must believe that Jesus died for their sins and physically rose again, which is the assurance of forgiveness and resurrection of the body.  After death, believers are present with Jesus and await final judgment.  Both the saved and unsaved will be resurrected.  The saved will live with God in heaven for eternity, and the unsaved will suffer the torment of hells and eternal separation from God.

As born-again believers, we all belong to the catholic or universal body of Christ which manifests itself in local churches or assemblies.  We believe Christians are commissioned to voluntarily aid in missionary efforts, and aid the poor, widows, orphans, and the downtrodden.  Believers will be known by their love for one another.

We believe that the God of the Bible established marriage as the exclusive lifetime covenant of union between one man and one woman.  It is His unique gift that echoes the union of Christ and His church, and is the ideal environment that He has ordained for procreation and for the raising of children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord to the glory of God. Finally, we believe it is our duty as Christians to defend and protect human life from conception to natural death.

Friends of Grace

We welcome families from our surrounding area to join with us and encourage each other on the homeschool journey. We are a Christian fellowship of families from many area churches in Middlesex County, MA. We are affiliated with MassHOPE and HSLDA. We offer a support group which meets monthly in Chelmsford, MA, a high school student led teen outreach volunteer activity group, frequent organized field trips, and a homeschool cooperative which meets for 24 weeks during theschool year on Fridays in Chelmsford, MA. Registration for our cooperative is in June of every year. We will be accepting new participants to the cooperative at that time. Support group membership is available at any time during the year.

Statement of Faith:

We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, the supreme and final authority for all faith and life. That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in the Deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through the shed blood on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension, and His imminent bodily return in power and glory. We believe that man was created in the image of God, but fell into sin and is therefore lost. We put our faith in Christ alone, not trusting in works for our salvation. That salvation is a free gift of God brought to the sinner by grace; received by personal faith in our Lord Jesus Christ whose death on the cross paid the penalty for our sins. We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to convict mankind, indwell, guide, instruct and empower the believer for godly living and service. Finally, we believe in the spiritual unity of believers through our common faith in the Lord and that individual doctrinal differences which may exist, outside the aforementioned, should not hinder the unity of Christian home educators.

Our group is called Pilgrims Progress Home School Support Group.  We have about 80 families as members.  We are a Christian led, non-profit organization that offers support to families who choose to home educate their children.

We are a group of families who have determined that homeschooling is the best choice for our children. We are associated with MassHOPE and subscribe to the MassHOPE Statement of Faith What *Don’t* we do? We don’t tell you “what” Curriculum to use. We don’t tell you “where” to school We don’t tell you “when” to school We don’t tell you “how” to school We don’t even necessarily tell you “why” to school We will, however be happy to help you with the variety of answers that we have found individually to each of those questions…

What do we do?

Organize field trips, outings, and special events(like an education achievement fair, “field day”, and pot luck dinners, to name a few)
