Homeschool Association

We are open to Christians of all affiliations and non-Christians as well; however, all should understand that we are committed to Biblical standards in all that we do, including the field trips we choose, the standards of behavior we endeavor to exhibit, and the way we interact with one another. SWGHA’s goal is to provide support and assist families of Southwest Georgia with the challenges of educating their children at home.

HSF

We are a Christ-centered support group for Christian homeschooling families.

We are based in the Smyrna area and our purpose is to provide support and encouragement for parents and extracurricular activities, both educational and fun, for our children. What do we do? We have Mother’s Night Out, field trips, park days, holiday parties, family events, elementary events, upper events, and more. We play together, learn together, work together, and share together.

Would you like to meet us? We’d love to meet you and walk this journey together. We have monthly Mother’s Night Out which are open to interested moms. Look on our calendar for this month’s details. We also have a trial month membership during August/September and again in January. During the trial period, the applying family will be welcome to attend HSF events and access the website, just as members do. For more details, look under New Members of this year’s Policies.

How easy is it to join? We have 5 steps to membership: 1.) Complete our online application for review & approval, 2.) Agree to our Statement of Faith and Purpose, 3.) Agree to abide by the HSF Bylaws and Policies, 4.) Submit Membership Dues, and 5.) Complete a trial membership period. Our annual membership fee of $40 covers most of the cost of special events. Each member is expected to plan one event or co-host one of our larger events, but the task is not onerous. We have excellent coordinators with some very useful website tools at their disposal to make advertising and managing your event easy. If you agree with our Statement of Faith and will abide by our Bylaws and Policies, click on the Membership Application today and let’s get started.

Christian Home Educators

Whether you are new to home schooling, new to the area, or new to our group, we hope you find information here to help you in your home schooling journey. Our members come from Hart, Elbert, Franklin (and Madison) Counties in Northeast Georgia.

TCCHE seeks to provide fellowship, encouragement, and support to Christian home schooling parents to help them successfully teach and minister to their children. We seek to provide the opportunity for our children to form godly relationships in an atmosphere where Christian standards and values are shared by all. All of our families sign the statement of faith, agree to adhere to our policies and guidelines, and agree to comply with the home study law of the state of Georgia.

To provide fellowship we offer several activities every year: back to school party, school pictures by a professional photographer, field trips, Craft Day (one for elementary, one for middle and high school to make Thanksgiving and Christmas items), Science Fair and Biography Fair (alternating each year), Spelling Bee, Christmas and Spring Drama, Yearbook, youth events, PE classes twice per month, a year-end party, and, new this year, a Fall Bazaar in November for families to sell items and to raise money as a group for Hart Life Pregnancy Resource Center.

Some field trips we have either had or hope to have soon are: fossil presentation, police and department tour, library and post office tours, visits to local reastaurants and the newspaper, insect presentation and planetarium visit at Clemson University, 12 Aprils Dairy, Corn Maze (Anderson, SC), petting zoo, Greenville Zoo, HollyWild, Bob Jones University, radio station, Ty Cobb Museum, state park presentations and many more.

To offer support and encouragement, we will have parent meetings that offer both information and fellowship for parents. We plan to offer them at varying times to accommodate different schedules of parents. This website also has useful information about home schooling, information about activities as they are scheduled, sign ups for scheduled events, classifieds to advertise items for sale, give-away or wanted, and forums to share prayer needs.

Non-members may attend one event prior to joining the group. Full website access will be allowed once membership is approved. Before joining, you will want to be sure to click “About TCCHE” to read our statement of faith, policies and guidelines, compliance agreement, and letter about GCA (which is found under “Homeschool and GCA”). Dues are $40.00/year and can be paid by PayPal (click link under “About TCCHE” for instructions) or by check. Once you have filled out the registration form, we will send you the mailing address for your check.

As of May 2011, TCCHE will only accept new memberships from families who are home schooling at least one child. Therefore, if a family is using GCA (public school at home) to school their children, they will not be permitted to join.

MAFA

While the process of restoration is present in all of our programs, it is most prevalent in The Master’s Academy of Fine Arts, The Master’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts, The Master’s Institute, and Terebinth as those are the starting points for restoring what has been lost.

Restoration is taught in several ways through The Master’s Academy programs.

All levels of instruction are based on teaching:

* Character – Who we want them to be
* Content – What we want them to know
* Competence – What we want them to do
* Instruction moves from an exposure level through an advanced level.
* The teaching of a Christian worldview of the arts is paramount to the higher levels of the program.
* The history, skills, and foundations of artistic principles are taught through a creative approach to learning.
* Academics are a natural outgrowth of the creative process and should be taught from that perspective.

The Master’s Academy of Fine Arts is a full fine arts school designed specifically for home schooled children ages K-6th grade. Meeting just one day per week, children are exposed to the arts from an historical perspective. Each year the arts are taught from a specific time period beginning with Ancient Civilizations, then moving on to the Medieval/ Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern periods through a six year cycle. Each year is self-contained so a student need not be involved for the full six years, nor do they need to begin at the Ancient Civilizations period to gain a benefit from the program.

Throughout the year, students concentrate on building foundational principles in our four core classes which include:

* History – A combination of arts history and world history so that the students understand where “all the pieces fit.”
* Art – Learning of basic art skills and terminology as well as learning about the artists, and mediums used during a specific time period.
* Music – Exposure to the basic elements of music reading, rhythm and notation, as well as learning about the composers, and styles of music from each period and learning to make music.
* Drama – This is exposure to the basics of stage terminology as well as theater games, and literature of the period done in a group setting to learn basic drama skills.

In addition students will pursue electives in areas which they have found to be interesting to them in order to gain more exposure and skill in those areas. These options vary from location to location and by time period.
The Master’s Academy of Visual & Performing Arts (7th -12th grade)

The academy has both a junior high and senior high division.

Junior High Division
The junior high division, for students in 7th-8th grade, is skills based and serves as a transition point from The Master’s Academy of Fine Arts into the high school division of The Master’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. Students meet for 3 hours per week, with optional electives in The Master’s Institute for an additional 3 hours per week.

Although not time period based, the classes continue to operate on a rotation basis including:

* Arts History – A combining of world history with a focus on how the arts and history were impacted by each other with an emphasis on a Christian worldview.
* Art – A skills based sequence of classes leading students to a higher degree of proficiency in the basic skills of art.
* Drama – A skills based sequence of classes leading students to a higher degree of proficiency in the basic skills of theater performance and theater tech, including character development, improvisation and basic acting.
* Music – A skills based sequence of classes leading students to a higher degree of proficiency in the basic skills of music theory, composition, and ear training.

High School Division?
The High School division is for students in the 9th-12th grades. Students in this division choose a specific major to pursue for their four years of high school, resulting in a degree from The Master’s Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. Students meet for 8 hours, one day per week, with additional requirements outside of the weekly program. Admittance into the high school division is by audition/portfolio review and interview only.

Degree Areas Courses will be offered in the following degree areas:

* Art
* Music
* Theatre
* Writing
* Film
* Dance

The high school division also includes a four-year worldview course of study:

* Year 1 A Christian Worldview?
* Year 2 A Christian Worldview of the Arts?
* Year 3 The Artist and Culture? ?
* Year 4 The Heart of the Artist?

Additional, required components in the high school division include:

* History – a basic history course in the student’s chosen major
* Artspreneurship – an arts business course taken in the sophomore year
* Arts service – a community service project that is taken in the junior year
* Monthly master classes in their chosen major
* Outside local arts events attendance
* A sophomore achievement platform
* A senior project
* Additional requirements for specific majors may also be included

Tri-County Christian Home Educators

HOME of Fine Arts Connection Inc.

Thank you for your interest in the HOME of Fine Arts Connection. Online Registration for new families for the 2013-2014 school year is currently closed. If you are a new family and have an interest in attending HOME, please plan to visit us during our parent orientation night on July 26th or on campus on a Friday beginning August 9th between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m.

HOME of Fine Arts Connection, Inc. is a Fine Arts program for the home educated student located in Henry County, Georgia. The founder of the program, Joni Hyde, was looking for a way to involve her children in music outside of private lessons. She wanted her home schooled children to have the benefit of participating in a band experience.

Mrs. Hyde met a private school music teacher and expressed her desires and this music teacher saw potential in a mother’s dream. They “banded” together to start the program then called Homeschoolers Offering Music Education. Those first music classes began 16 years ago. In 2010, the program obtained non-profit status and the name was changed to HOME of Fine Arts Connection, Inc. to reflect the program’s growth into all branches of the fine arts.

Today’s HOME programs includes band, choir, violin and guitar instruction, keyboard, percussion, dance, gymnastics, sign language, crafts, art class, photography just to name a few.

This cornucopia of classes allows the home schooled family to experience the Fine Arts in one place on one day. The instruction is very affordable, which was one concern that Joni Hyde wanted to keep in mind since usually the home schooled family is a single income family.

Family Education For Christ

Family Education For Christ is a Christian home school support group serving Savannah, GA and the surrounding areas. We are comprised of families committed to God’s admonition that we raise our children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4), and diligently and purposefully train them as exemplified in Deuteronomy 6:6-7.

FEFC supports the work of the local church and encourages families to be active and accountable in a body of believers. It is our intent and design that this group be neither a replacement for nor a hindrance to your own church commitment and involvement. For this reason, we stay single-minded in our function to serve as a tool for your homeschool, with our emphasis on providing meaningful educational and social experiences for you and your children. We strive to select activities that do not duplicate those which are generally considered to be the function of your local church.

The purpose of FEFC is to encourage member families to grow and thrive in their respective homeschool environments, and to facilitate their success by providing information and support services while upholding the biblical principles on which the association is founded.

According to the needs & interests of our families, activities include a wide range of categories (some constantly changing!) such as: Science Fair, Yearbook, Park Play, Speech & Debate Club, Sr. High Graduation, Craft & Bake Sale, Skate Day, Scouts, American Heritage Girls, Support Group Meetings, Georgia Day Parade, TeenPact, Curriculum Connection Book Fair, Bowling, Nutcracker Ballet, High School: Group Activities / Student Council / Spring Dance, Middle School Group Activities, Field Trips, Ice Skating, Workshops, Moms & Mentors (M&Ms), Kindergarten Graduation & more!

OUR MISSION IS…

We, the Christian Home Educators of Habersham County, Georgia, base our standards of excellence in education on the foundation set forth by the infallible word of God, the Bible. We follow the example of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as the greatest teacher of all time. We lift up and support one another through prayer, fellowship, and sharing of ideas and information, always maintaining the highest integrity and love for one another’s unique gifts and talents. We are a non-denominational group where Christian standards and values are shared by all.

WHAT ARE WE UP TO?

Join us as we fellowship with one another and “socialize” our children (just kidding!): Field trips are sponsored most months and have included the Georgia Aquarium, wildlife exhibits, dairy farms, plays, fire stations, planetariums, museums, etc. Annual family activities include the Kick-Off Picnic (or “Kicknic”, as we like to call it), Christmas party, science fair, spelling bee, Valentine’s Day party, field day, geography dinner, and year-end barbeque/graduation Park days are a wonderful time of play for the children and fellowship for the parents. We welcome all families to join us twice a month as we play on playground equipment as well as organized games such as kickball, soccer, basketball, etc. Clubs are sometimes organized with specific focus, such as Keepers Club, Nature Study Club, or Teen Reading Club. Depending on interest, we may offer co-op classes as well. Group emails are sometimes sent out for quick dissemination of information, announcements, and prayer concerns for all CHEH members. But most of the time, our members stay in touch on our forum.
