Sacred Heart Home Educators’ Mission Statement

The Sacred Heart Home Educators is a Catholic homeschool network which seeks to provide support and encouragement to families as they fulfill their calling to be the first and foremost teachers of their children. We pledge loyalty to the Pope, our Bishops, and faithfulness to all doctrinal and moral beliefs and disciplines passed down through the Magisterium. We are consecrated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

“As the Second Vatican Council recalled, ‘since parents have conferred life on their children, they have a most solemn obligation to educate their offspring. Hence, parents must be acknowledged as the first and foremost educators of their children. Their role as educators is so decisive that scarcely anything can compensate for their failure in it. For it devolves on parents to create a family atmosphere so animated with love and reverence for God and others that a well-rounded personal development will be fostered among the children. Hence, the family is the first school of those social virtues which every society needs.’ ”

Raising Hearts Towards Heaven

Welcome to our group! We hope you’ll join us as we travel down this path of homeschooling and raising our children’s hearts towards heaven.

Raising Hearts Towards Heaven is a group of home educators residing primarily in the Southeast Valley of Arizona. We are a support group for families that are currently homeschooling. Our focus is on building friendships and offering support and encouragement as we travel this adventure in life together. This group is Christian based, but all are welcome. We live by the golden rule of treating others with kindness and respect, and we ask you to do the same.

Membership is restricted to families actively homeschooling. Families in the group must be homeschooling their own children, not participating in an online-charter public school. If you would like to join, please email the moderator with a description of your homeschooling experience and a little about your family. Thanks! We look forward to getting to know you!

Kingdom Education

The purpose of K.E.Y.S. is to partner with parents of homeschooled students to define life in terms of a Christian worldview and take God’s love and mercy to others. The Bible is our measure and standard of truth. All classes are taught based upon this standard. While we do not require students to agree with this standard, we do expect them to operate within this framework while a part of K.E.Y.S.. Participation in K.E.Y.S. assumes that the student desires to be mentored in a Christian worldview and that the actions of each individual will reflect Biblical guidelines.

We desire to teach students to be Christians who affect the world around them. We encourage students to be lifelong learners as well as committed servant leaders, equipped to impact their world with God’s truth.

Havasu Christian Home Educators

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, inherent, and infallible written word of God, and of supreme and final written authority in faith and life.1

We believe that there is only one2 living3 and true God; infinite4, and perfect in all His attributes5, one in essence but eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.6

We believe in the fall of man; although originally created in the image of God, through the disobedience of Adam, man fell into a sinful and spiritually impotent state, totally unable to justify himself before God.7

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to God8 and is the express image of the invisible God9, which is to say He is God; that He became man10, yet without sin, being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary; 11that He died on the cross a substitution sacrifice for sin12 ; that He arose from the dead in the body in which He was crucified; that He ascended into Heaven in that body glorified;13 where He is now, our interceding High Priest;14 and that He will return again personally, visibly, and gloriously.15

We believe that salvation is wholly of God, by grace;16 that God in love, gave his only Son to die on the cross for sin,17 thus procuring the redemption of those who come to Him;18 that this salvation is not merited in any way by man; that God commands men everywhere to repent of sin and believe in Christ; and that this salvation is eternal and results In good works,19 but is not something to be earned by works. It is a gift from God.20

Indigo Home Learners

Indigo Home Learners is an Arizona homeschool support group serving Phoenix, Glendale, Peoria and surrounding cities. We are united by the desire to provide a positive and open-minded homeschooling community for our children.

We provide the following to support your homeschooling efforts: a community of friends for adults and children through weekly park days, holiday/seasonal parties, information about homeschooling or educational opportunities around the valley, monthly planning meetings, and occasional large group events.

We welcome everyone to our group that is willing to be open-minded and allow others to be who they are without judgment. Within Indigo we welcome people of all religions, races, family makeup, sexual orientation, home schooling methods and curricula. We do not like to say we are a secular group because for many homeschooling families their faith is a large reason for home schooling. We as parents accept the opportunity and responsibility to teach our own children about differences and the appreciation of them. Having said this, we want you to understand that our focus is not on religion or politics, but simply home schooling and supporting the home schooling families that are members of our group with friends, fun, information and good times.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world: indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead

After requesting admittance to the Yahoo forum, new members will be invited to meet with the group publicly before being given access to the site. This is to protect any personal information posted online. Participation in this group, either online or in planned activities, denotes agreement with the group’s commitment to diversity and vision of inclusion.

Maricopa Christian Homeschool Support Group

Welcome to Maricopa Christian Homeschool Support Group!

Membership is open to all families currently homeschooling* at least one child.  Membership is concentrated in the city of Maricopa, although we do have families living outside the city.

There are many educational options within the the State of Arizona and within the City of Maricopa itself.  Each family chooses the form of education based on their individual family needs, goals and desires.  It is the goal of this support group to address and support the unique needs of those families choosing to educated their children in a parent led and family funded fashion as indicated by Arizona’s definition of “homeschooling”.*

Our group promotes and encourages parent directed education and enrichment that is divorced completely from the authority, direction or funding of the state or federal government. Please be sure to read our Mission Statement and our Philosophy below.  We look forward to partnering with you in your home school journey.

Our Mission Statement

Maricopa Christian Homeschoolers exists to serve Christian home schooling* families who live in the city of Maricopa and the local surrounding areas.  MCHSG desires to encourage and support parents in their decision to homeschool their children, including preschool age children, while also raising them in the Christian faith.  We further desire to enable new and veteran homeschooling families opportunities to pray together, share ideas and collaborate resources, and to fellowship in educational and social settings that glorify the Lord and provides a witness to the world of His saving grace.

Our Philosophy

Maricopa Christian Homeschool Support Group adheres to the philosophy that our children are gifts from the Lord, (Psalm 127) and that parents are charged by God with the responsibility for teaching and training their children.  (Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Proverbs 22:6, Ephesians 6:4; I Timothy 3:4)  We believe that home schooling by definition is independence from government control.  As Christians we submit our plans to the Lord and follow his leading, but the decision to home school is also a decision to take the responsibility for educating our children into our own hands without the influence or control of the government.  It is in keeping with this philosophy that Maricopa Christian Homeschool Support group promotes and encourages parent directed education and enrichment that is divorced completely from the authority, direction or funding of the state or federal government.

Athletes In Training

Athletes In Training has been in the Valley for over 20 years. We have provided thousands of children with various services from charter and private school PE instruction, summer, winter, and break time camps, and scholarship opportunities, to home school, private and public school sports programs. Today, we primarily focus on our after school enrichment programs and summer camps. At Athletes in Training, children are given the opportunity to play sports right on their school campus in a non-intimidating, fun environment. Each month a new sport is offered as well as a recreational game. The children play on teams and learn about sportsmanship, teamwork, and cooperation, along with the fundamentals of the game. It is our goal to make this time enjoyable for the children, and to give time back to families by providing sports at the schools for an affordable rate. We pride ourselves in delivering a fun, creative sports program that can’t be found anywhere else.

Over the course of the school year we play Basketball, Baseball, Flag Football, Field Hockey, and Soccer and more! We also play several recreational games including Ketchup and Mustard, Capture the Flag, Jedi Dodgeball, and Kickball. The favorite part of AIT for many of the children is the first and last month of the year when we play everyone’s favorite, Water Games! During this session we play all kinds of fun, active games, and sports while getting wet and staying cool.

Our AIT family is made up of caring individuals with a broad range of experience and a passion for helping children to live a rich life. At Athletes In Training, it is important to us to serve the needs of the children of Arizona and  to help them to discover how much fun they can have while staying active, fit and healthy.

Our coaching staff is highly trained through quarterly trainings and monthly meetings. They are taught the best strategies in working with children, and innovative new ways to make each sport more fun. We also train our coaches on child safety procedures, the AIT curriculum, child development, how to motivate and encourage children, character and discipline.   Our coaches are certified in CPR, have obtained fingerprint cards, and many have gone through the “Called To Protect” Class, which teaches the signs to look for when child abuse is suspected. We hope to work with your family in the future!

Desert Hills Christian Homeschoolers

MISSION: Desert Hills Christian Homeschoolers (DHCH) serves to support and provide for those parents who have chosen to make the sacrifice and commitment to teach their own children privately at home, independent of any publicly-funded school program, thereby retaining complete control of their children’s education.

PHILOSOPHY: The philosophy of the DHCH board of directors is that parents have a God-given responsibility and a constitutional right to educate their children both spiritually and academically.

GOALS: We seek to bring glory to God by teaching our children according to the Biblical mandate of Deut. 6:6-7. We believe that telling our children about Jesus Christ and how they can be saved is of utmost importance. We wish to make disciples of our children, showing them how a Christian ought to live. We also desire to educate them about God’s wonderful creation and His providential role in the history of the world.

VISION: Our vision is to encourage, edify and equip homeschooling parents who seek God’s Will and follow God’s Word for the education of their children, as they strive for excellence in all areas with God’s grace. Odyssey of the Mind – Homeschool

Odyssey of the Mind is the quintessential STEAM program where teams of students solve long-term challenges that require the use of science, engineering, technology and math. Those teams present their solutions in the form of an 8 minute play to the judges at a regional tournament. The entire solution should be as creative as possible to “wow!” the judges. It teaches 21st Century Work Skills, and it follows the Common Core Curriculum Standards.

Here are the shortened versions of this years long-term problems:

2012-2013 Problem Synopses teams can choose to solve

Problem 1: Pet Project – vehicle

The problem is to design, build, and run three vehicles that will deliver parts to an Assembly Area where they are assembled into a pet animal that must perform a trick during performance.

Problem 2: The Email Must Go Through – Technical

Create a technical representation of three messages being sent by email in a performance: one that requires a return receipt, one with a work of art as an attachment, and one that goes through a SPAM filter.

Problem 3: ARTchitecture: The Musical -Classics

Create and present an original performance that includes a replica of an architectural structure built between 1,000 AD and 1,600 AD. The performance will include three works of art that “disappear” and include two songs with choreographed movement.

Problem 4: Tumble-wood – Structure

Design and build a structure made of balsa wood and glue that will balance and support as much weight as possible. Team will create a commercial that includes the structure rolling down a ramp. Score is for how far it rolls and how much weight it holds.

It is the goal of this support group to address and support the unique needs of those families choosing to educated their children in a parent led and family funded fashion as indicated by Arizona’s definition of “homeschooling”.* Our group promotes and encourages parent directed education and enrichment that is divorced completely from the authority, direction or funding of the state or federal government.

Grace Christian Homeschoolers

Welcome to our website!

We are a Christian Homeschool Co op who meet on Thursdays in the Northwest Valley. Our goal is to provide educational and social activities for homeschooling moms and students (all ages) in a Christian atmosphere. We seek to do this in a flexible, cooperative way that complements rather than overburdens families with limited time and resources.

We try to be flexible in providing support that is needed rather than doing the same thing year after year. The weekly format these past two years has had some definite strengths and enabled us to do a variety of things with our students. It has also required a big commitment on the part of moms to teach and attend regularly. There are so many opportunities for homeschoolers in the Valley at this time and many of us are juggling a variety of classes, clubs, and extracurricular activities while trying to keep the ‘home” in homeschooling. So we are returning to our previous format of Once a Month, Multiage, Thematic Co op Class. In the past, we were able to pack in a lot of learning and socialization for a more manageable commitment of time on the part of moms in a way that every one contributed. Those who are looking for more opportunities for their kids to play and learn together can get together more than twice a month (1 park day planning meeting & 1 monthly co op); those who are heavily involved in other activities can participate in a Christian homeschooling group environment in a more manageable way. More information will follow through the GCH News email. We will have our first kick off/planning meeting in Sept. or early October.

If you are interested in our group, keep checking back here at our website or email GraceChristianHomeschoolers@hotmail.com to express an interest in email updates about what we offer this school year. Our group is sponsoring a Valentine’s Skating Party for homeschool groups or families wanting to attend. See the link to the left later in the fall for details. We are considering sponsoring a few other one time activities for any interested homeschoolers like Social Studies & Science Fairs, Poetry Outloud Recitation Contest & Talent Show. These will be added to the website and advertised through AFHE if we do plan and schedule them.

ESA National Honor Society Omicron Beta Chapter

Welcome to the Eta Sigma Alpha Omicron Beta chapter homepage.

Eta Sigma Alpha is an honor society for home schooled students. ESA was founded in 1999 by Joanne Juren, M. Ed., through the Home Education Partnership of Texas. The Omicron Beta chapter was formed in 2003, and serves the greater Phoenix area. We usually meet the third Saturday of each month. In addition to our business meetings, we meet for community service projects and social activities.

Testing Requirements — These requirements are found on page 2 of our “Member Application”. The “Member Application” can be found in the menu on the left. The application should be printed out and sent in with a copy of the qualifying test scores and the appropriate dues.

Homeschool Eligibility – Only those students who meet the HSLDA definition of a home schooler are eligible for ESA membership. This rule states that a student must complete 50% of his/her studies at home under the direct supervision of the parent. Co-op programs, group classes, and even community college courses are acceptable as long as the 50% rule is followed.

Students enrolled in public school programs, charter school programs, full-time college programs, or other programs where more than 50% of the school time is spent in the supervision of a school setting or where the public school receives 50% funding for the student’s attendance or where the public school system, umbrella school, on-line school assigns the grades without parent participation, are not eligible for ESA membership. (See HSLDA’s webpage at www.hslda.org for more information.) If you have any additional questions, please contact esaomicronbeta@yahoo.com.

East Valley Christian Home Educators (EVCHE)

OUR PURPOSE

EVCHE is a Christian homeschool support group dedicated to encourage and support families who educate their children at home. We value education based on biblical principles without government intervention, oversight, or control. We function as a co-op, building community and relationships through activities and events designed to complement the endeavors of our members.

OVERVIEW

Originally named Bethany Home Educators (BHE), our group was formed in 1985 and incorporated in 1994. We have approximately 100 families, all committed to working together for the benefit of our children. We are a Christian support group and acknowledge the need to maintain relationships with other groups, religious or secular, in order to keep abreast of political and educational trends that might effect our parental and civil liberties, or otherwise affect our ability to educate our children.

Statement of Faith

This homeschool support group believes: The Bible is the inspired and only infallible authoritative Word of God. There is one God and he exists from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. All men have sinned, both by nature and by act, and it is only Jesus Christ who is able, and has paid the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death on the cross. He then triumphed over death by His visible, bodily resurrection. Salvation is offered as a free gift to the sinner. This gift must be accepted by faith, not trusting in any personal work but in the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.

Classical Conversations of North Valley Phoenix

We are an officially licensed Classical Conversations (CC) community**–which is part of a network of communities in Arizona and throughout the United States.   We are part of a nationwide network of classical, Christian home educators providing academic programs, events and services to local home school communities, parents and educators. Our supplemental academic programs meet on Tuesdays in North Phoenix between Cave Creek and 32nd Street on Union Hills and provide a committed Christian community of structure and support, along with fellowship opportunities for both parents and students.

We believe education finds its purpose and culmination in knowing God and making Him known, and we believe parents are the primary educators of their children; therefore, our purpose is to assist parents in their efforts to provide their children with a well-rounded classical education that is grounded in a biblical worldview. If you’d like additional information about our community, please contact Maggie Stallard @ 623-570-7989 or Magstall@gmail.com.
